Guess i'm going to winter camp after all.

I need boots. The 12-year-old sneakers stopped being funny about six years ago. Nah, who am i kidding? 12 year old sneakers are always funny. They get funnier with age. There are kids in my Sunday School class who aren't as old as my sneakers. Tell me that isn't funny!

I must admit: I fear the mountain. I fear camp. I fear snow. I fear Big Bear. Did i ever tell you about the time i slid off the road on the way up to Big Bear? Nothing like 12-year-old girls screaming in your ears to un-rattle the nerves.

But i love, love, love seeing these guys and girls come into an encounter with the living God. Trying to be communicative about prayer, here are some prayer requests for the winter camp (Presidents Day Weekend):
- small group times- authenticity, fellowship, relationship. Closeness between the guys in particular-- some of the newer guys don't know the older ones that well.
- call to missions-- call to fulltime service. I can see it for several of these kids, but they have the same hang-ups i did-- non-Christian parents, worldly values, etc.
- free times of worship.
- Thought-provoking, focused devotional times. I'm working with older guys, so i'm inclined to let most of them do it in solitude. I'm also fearful of finding them writing their names in the snow at the ten-minute mark.
- good communication with my co-counselors. I get frustrated easily these days, because i'm so used to lone-wolfing it with the college group.
- driving safety. =P
