XML, validation, and you.
So Mr. ThirdWorld was quite pleased with the Amazon gift i sent him-- Mastering Regular Expressions. (everyone needs an Amazon wishlist. I shake my fist at Mr. Achilles.)
I'm sitting through a day-long course on XML (Go Pitzer! Paying me to learn stuff i don't know. And paying someone to teach it to me. This job has been such a blessing.) I'd never really figured out what DTD's did, but now that i'm learning the layout structure... what else do they use but regular-expression style delimiters and metacharacters? But yeah... knowing regular expressions makes the DTD
Nerdy reflection of the day: girls insist on external validation, with a preference for local, SYSTEM-style validation. Boys rely on internal validation, or don't use DTD's at all. The problems of these supposedly compatible systems are left as an exercise to the programmer nerds out there.
Yeah. I'm a big bitter nerd. I think my codename should be Mr. Bitter.
