Database programming

I've web-enabled more databases than i can count. Every time, i think i get a little better at it. But, the thing is, i tend to write more and more general tools, with abstruse names like "Update Datum" and "insertOrUpdateRecord".

The problem with these general tools is that i can never remember what they do six months after i write them. It's kind of disgraceful, actually. I mean... geez, when i start thinking of webpages as elaborate function calls with lots and lots of side effects, i may been reading too much into Abelson and Sussman. My nerdery continues to boggle my mind.

It's late. I have a lot of coding to do.
