International Symbols

Something from my journal:
"I know I'm not good at it, but that's not an excuse to be bad at it."

Being home for a week, i'm getting restless feet again.  I want to plan a trip up to San Francisco, see Dad, connect with college friends.  Want to carpool up?

I was reminded tonight of how much i like to hear people's stories.  I will try to be more intentional about asking these sorts of questions.  Don't be surprised if i ask you in the coming weeks.  Don't be offended if i don't-- i am, as we like to say, "chicken."  One thing that i've really processed from China is how different my interactions are when the time i have to get to know someone is short.  That urgency... if i could put it in a bottle, i'd be... well, stressed out all the time.  But, at the same time, i want that kind of urgency to get to the heart of the matter in my daily interactions with people i see every day.  Because that time is short, too.

In honor of getting fake-married in China:

I thought Mr. ShinyGuitar and Ms. RockClimber were exaggerating when they'd said that this would be the mother of all wedding seasons.  But the pending fellowship schedules swayed me.  It's about four months later than i'm used to, but here we go.

"Or did the word of God originate with you?  Or are you the only people it has reached?"  - 1 Cor 14:36

That Paul.  He's one sarcastic apostle.  No wonder i had trouble getting to like him-- i'm too much like him.
