I'm going to the LA County Fair tomorrow.

You can join us. But... i left my phone at church tonight, so if you want to, you'll have to send me an email or something. We're meeting at the carnival entrance to the Fair at 5:30.

For maximum repulsive power, i'm deciding between my Silver Surfer or UC Berkeley Computer Science t-shirts. I also have an awesome hat from Kazakhstan, but i think it's wool or felt, and seems a bit heavy to wear in LA in September. This thing is jaunty and awesome. I will certainly be wearing it for Halloween.

So, the next Pro Circuit will be in Sydney, Australia, sometime in early 2007. I'm thinking about making a vacation of it and spending a few weeks with my cousins. Hmm. I'd have to qualify, though. Or get selected to judge. That would be sticky, though.

I've missed being well-informed about current events. I've developed enough of a knack for NPR's scheduling that i rarely listen to more than 30 minutes of news-related programming each week. I tend to gravitate towards the programs i enjoy most, which are not that current eventish. And listening to The World at lunchtime is a beating-- half the time they are interviewing didgeridoo or accordion players from the urban south. Ugh. Too much culture, not enough art. In that vein, i've finally subscribed to The Economist. When i go to my dentist's office, i am always pleasantly surprised that i can understand half the articles in that thing.

The best part: i'm subscribing through one of the kiddies at church, and as part of my deal with her, my subscription is going to get sent to her parents' house. That's right, suckers. I will have The Economist brought to me every week by an awesome sixth-grader, and she'll throw away all the junkmail that comes with magazine subscriptions.
